Frequently asked questions
Students in Grades 9–12 who want field-based credentials for their university application. No prior experience in development or policy is needed β€” curiosity and commitment are enough.
All placements are under the direct supervision of Hamari Pahchan’s experienced field staff. Rural programs include secure community accommodation vetted by the HP team. Students are never left unsupervised.
You leave with a personalised LOR, a published magazine feature, and a concrete story of real field work β€” exactly what admissions officers at global universities look for. It demonstrates initiative, empathy, and leadership outside the classroom.
The Rural Immersion (4 days) places you in a village community β€” you live there, run awareness drives, and do grassroots research. The Urban Immersion (3 days, Delhi) focuses on governance: visiting anganwadis, municipal bodies, and mapping policy gaps.
Programs run across school holidays and summer. Book a free Inroot consultation to get current batch dates and reserve your spot. Seats are limited per cohort to maintain quality.
The fee covers all field logistics, accommodation (rural), venue access, mentor facilitation, and your LOR. Travel to the program base is arranged separately. GST is additional.

Frequently asked questions
If you want a quick authentic NGO experience and a certificate for your portfolio, 1 day works well. If you’re building a more substantial extracurricular profile or want richer stories for personal statements, the 1-week programme is strongly recommended β€” you get exposure to multiple NGO contexts.
It functions as both. You receive a verified internship certificate from a registered NGO β€” which carries formal weight. Universities value the combination of certification + real community impact over either alone.
This is not desk work. You’ll be on the ground β€” running awareness drives, distributing essentials, supporting education or health initiatives, and working directly with community members alongside NGO staff.
No experience required. This is designed for high school students doing meaningful community work for the first time. Orientation and briefing are included on Day 1.
Specific dates are confirmed on registration. Batches run across May–July 2026. Spots fill quickly β€” book a free Inroot consultation to lock in your preferred date.
All programs are based in Delhi-NCR and conducted with professional oversight from the Hamari Pahchan team throughout. Students are supervised at all times during field activities.

Frequently asked questions
Passion Projects are for students who want a sustained, deeply personal narrative in their application β€” owning a cause from start to finish. Immersion programs are better for students who want an intense, short-term experience as one of several extracurriculars.
You choose your cause. During the consultation phase, project directors help you narrow it into something specific, actionable, and measurable β€” rather than broad or generic. Your voice and interest guide the entire project.
Accelerator β€” you have 4–6 weeks and want a quick but real intervention. Core β€” you’re in Grade 11–12 and want a centrepiece for your Common App or UCA essay. Visionary β€” you’re taking a gap year, writing a thesis, or want to build something that genuinely outlasts you.
You receive regular check-ins with an HP project mentor throughout your timeline. Impact is documented with real data, which forms the backbone of your final portfolio and any LOR written about your work.
You receive a detailed Letter of Recommendation based on demonstrated project impact, documentation of your work for portfolio use, and volunteering certificates (1 for Core tier, 3 for Visionary). These are issued by Hamari Pahchan NGO.
Because every project is unique in scope, location, and duration, the fee is discussed and agreed upon during your free Inroot consultation β€” based on the specific interventions, logistics, and mentoring required.

Frequently asked questions
High school students in Grades 9–12 who want to go beyond surface-level extracurriculars and contribute to solving real problems in India. No prior track experience is required β€” just genuine interest in your chosen track.
Choose the track that connects to your intended major, genuine curiosity, or personal experience. The fellowship works best when your track story links directly to your application narrative. Your Inroot counsellor can help match you to the right one.
Weeks alternate between field work, structured learning sessions, and project development. You aren’t just attending workshops β€” you are actively building something by Week 2 onwards, with mentorship from HP staff and domain experts.
The fellowship has significant on-ground, in-person components β€” particularly the community engagement elements. Some structured sessions may be hybrid. Full details are shared at the time of application.
Fellows produce a documented project or intervention in their track β€” a tool, a campaign, a report, or a community proposal β€” along with a fellowship certificate and an LOR from HP’s track mentors.
Most high school fellowships in India are observer or seminar formats. This fellowship requires you to build something and deliver measurable community impact β€” making it substantively more credible in a global university application. It is run by a registered NGO with verifiable track record, not a for-profit edtech platform.
